Mayo Hotel

This year's ornament celebrates the Mayo Hotel, conceived by brothers Cass A. and John D. Mayo in 1925. It was 19 stories of modern elegance that hosted many famous visitors. Designed by architect George Winkler in Art Deco style, the back piece shows 2 of the many two-story high Doric columns, crossed by the front en trance's black metal canopy, and above, the rooftop balustrade. (now a modern bar). These building features frame the fabulously renovated interior Grand Hall (completed in 2009 by the Snyder family) with the original, iconic grand staircase, elegant chandeliers, and marble flooring. Today, the Mayo's luxe spaces host weddings, social events, conventions and business meetings. The front depicts the original 1925 Mayo Logo, a vintage automobile with a happy couple.
